Overview : The Troutbeck Valley must be one of the last hidden gems of the Lake District. Everyone passes it as they drive up to the Kirkstone Pass but few take the time to explore it. This is Lakeland at its most breathtaking.

Overview: The classic Hope Valley ridge walk, starting with the steep ascent of Lose Hill but giving way to a gentle, undulating ridge offering spectacular views, culminating in Mam Tor. Descend via the broken Mam Tor road – or extend the walk to descend via Cavedale.

Overview: One of the Lake District's most popular walks, a circular route taking in the ridges of Striding Edge and Swirral Edge. A true Lakeland classic the ascent of Striding Edge makes an ideal approach to Helvellyn in good weather, with panoramic views in all directions, but in rain, high wind, or snow the route takes on a more sinister nature with it's steep drops to either side. The return from Helvellyn takes in Catseye Cam and Swirral Edge, a less fearsome ridge than its counterpart on the outward leg.

Overview: Cairngorm is without a doubt Scotland's most easily accessible 4000er, with thousands of skiers each year approaching within a few hundred metres of the summit. Ignoring the skiers’ chairlifts, this popular circular route takes in all nine "tops" along with the main summit. Once on the almost featureless summit plateau the route hugs the edge as it traverses above the winter climbers’ playground of the Northern Corries, then drops down to the Chalamain Gap and an easy return to the car parks.
